Georgia Blackburn
Rehab Assistant
Where are you from?
I am from Bolton - but I spend a lot of time in Staffordshire too!
Where did you study/ work previously?
Before my role at MTS, I completed a degree in Psychology. I completed some time at an IAPT service and worked with the public at events and city centres around the North West.
What is a typical day at MTS like for you?
Each day of the week is so different, I typically work 1:1 with clients following treatment plans but sometimes work jointly with other members of the MDT. Some days include, yoga, walking, baking, community access, practicing public transport. My days adapt around my clients to work on their goals.
What’s the best thing about your role?
It is rewarding being a part of a client's progress and watching them flourish. I like working at MTS as the therapists are person centered and work around the client's interest and needs.
What do you consider is your biggest achievement within your role?
This is a hard one - I am grateful for all the small wins along the way. However, when you work with a client over the years, and gradually reduce input until they have an increase in independence and they feel confident to be able to do daily activities safely without you, knowing it has made a difference to their and their families lives.
