Jenna Wood

Occupational Therapist

Where are you from?
Bolton, North West England.

Where did you study/ work previously?
Since qualifying as an Occupational Therapist I worked at Salford Royal Care Organisation.  This is where I found my love of neuro and spent 12 years rotating predominantly across neurology services, seeing patients in the early acute phases of their neurological injury.  I also have experience of community neuro, medical, emergency assessment and orthopaedics.  I joined Munro Therapy Services in January 2024 where I am able to see the other side to Brain Injury.

What is a typical day at MTS like for you?
Oooo that's a hard one...I know everybody says this but really everyday is different.  I can be out on visits all day going as far as Morcombe to assess a client's suitability for a wheelchair accessible vehicle or supporting somebody to attend a new activity. I have recently helped a client choose and book their first holiday abroad and another client to adapt his motorcycle gloves so he can put these on independently.

What’s the best thing about your role?
It will always be working with people! I love working with clients and their families helping them at such a crucial part of their lives.  From learning about them as a person, the experiences they have had that shape who they are, to being a small part of their neuro-rehabilitation journey.

What do you consider is your biggest achievement within your role?
Most recently it has been supporting a client who had not been able to go outside for YEARS.  As a team we helped him access the community in his specialist wheelchair! He chose to go to a nearby lake, and when we got there all he wanted to do was sit by the lake and take it all in. It was a huge moment for the client and I was able to witness it, I felt very privileged to be a part of this piece of work.
