Lisa Taylor

Occupational Therapist

Where are you from?
Middlesbrough, North East.

Where did you study/ work previously?
I have worked as a medical secretary since my early 20s, and I also worked in domiciliary care whilst I was living in Australia. It was working alongside OT's in my previous carer role that was the deciding factor for me to go to University and become an OT myself!

What is a typical day at MTS like for you?
The days are varied, as are the clients! So every day is different.

What’s the best thing about your role?
Meeting clients and helping them to achieve their goals. Every client has different likes, dislikes, aims and interests. A great part of the role is getting to know each persons' individuality and basing their OT sessions around the hobbies or interests they enjoy.

What do you consider is your biggest achievement within your role?
My interest in neuro rehabilitation grew on 2 separate placements in University – one on an acute stroke ward, and another on an acquired brain injury unit. Both were very rewarding, and the determination and resilience of clients rebuilding their life after a brain trauma was very empowering to see, despite the difficulties they faced. With what I have learned so far, and the skills I will continue to build at Munro Therapy, I hope to assist clients in reaching their full potential and attaining the goals they set out as part of their recovery journey.
