Wendy Smith

Where are you from?
I was born and brought up in Stockport.

Where did you study/ work previously?
I did my Occupational Therapy training at Sheffield Hallam University. I have worked in Neuro for 23 years. I worked for Salford Royal on their stroke units and neurology wards but I have spent 20 years working in a community neuro rehab team.

What is a typical day at MTS like for you?
Every day is different. I could be working out volunteering options with a client one session, in the next session I could be designing and constructing a bespoke splint to promote more effective use of someone’s arm. 

What’s the best thing about your role?
I get to work alongside so many interesting people and I never stop learning.

What do you consider is your biggest achievement within your role?
Valuable differences in a person's life may be big or small and are very individual to them and their story. Finding the difference that makes the difference for someone always feels like an achievement.
