Olivia Billman
Where are you from?
Stockport, South Manchester.
Where did you study/work previously?
I graduated with a Psychology degree from Chester Uni in 2022 and I'm due to begin an OT apprenticeship degree in March 2024. I've had a number of working roles, mainly within the hospitality industry such as working as a hostess at Manchester United for 6 years. My first job in OT was as an OT assistant at the Priory Hospital before joining MTS in November 2022.
What is a typical day at MTS like for you?
Each day is hugely varied which I enjoy. My role is usually split between the office and then out meeting with clients. These are often for sessions that have been planned according to the OT's treatment plan. I also regularly liaise with each client's MDT's and carry out various admin work.
What’s the best thing about your role?
I love that the role involves meeting such a wide variety of people. More specifically though, it's hugely rewarding to see a client achieve a goal of theirs, no matter how small it may seem or how gradual a time it took!
What do you consider is your biggest achievement within your role?
I do enjoy building a professional relationship with my regular clients and recently had some positive feedback stating my client always 'looks forward' to our RA sessions - which was lovely to hear. Additionally, observing treatment plans being carried out that I've helped to develop, has definitely been a big achievement.
